Jordan, I don't know about you, but I am getting really tired of the people that jump on the Hydra=Nazi wagon. Hydra is a completely separate entity and I feel like people are trying to use the new Cap as a way of making a comic book be about something it's not. Why do people feel they need to turn everything Into an argument about race/ethnicity?

jordandwhiteqna answered:

Well, because we’re living in a time where there are a lot of problems with how people are treated based on  a lot of things–race, gender, sexual identity, and others. There are real problems out there that are serious. And those things hurt people, and when people are hurt, it changes how they react to things. If you pat me on the arm, I will probably not get upset at you…but if you pat me right where I have a bruise, there is a chance I would yell about it.

Point is, the reason people are upset is that there is a lot to get upset about. I don’t agree that this is one of those reasons…but there are reasons out there.

I'm loving a lot of the books you guys do, but I often wonder if it's just me. I know this is probably impossible for you to answer, but are there any books you think need extra help in sales? If it makes any difference, I just opened a little comic book shop in a small town, so as a retailer I guess I can sort of help more than the Average Joe. Oh, and while I'm here, I just wanna say Silver Surfer, Squirrel Girl and Sam Wilson: Captain America are big hits at my (Mississippi!) comic shop.

Sounds like you’re making all the right choices already!

This might be a weird question, but: Do you know why Herb Trimpe so drastically changed his art style in the '90s? Was he asked to do it, or did he choose to do it? Because every time I see his '90s art, I'm shocked again at how terrible it was, while his '70s and '80s work was always solid. I'm not trying to disrespect him; I just can't fathom how such a talented artist put out such inexplicably bad work.

brevoortformspring answered:

I believe Herb was encouraged to do it by editors who were trying to keep his work contemporary and thus help him to continue to pick up work.

Love this. Just feel like the lightsaber angle is a little off from his hand position

What are you most looking forward to: Deadpool, Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, X-men: Apocalypse, or Cap 3?

brevoortformspring answered:

CAP 3, by far. Deadpool looks like it’ll be good, Apocalypse I’ll likely see when it comes out but without any particular enthusiasm, and Suicide Squad I’m likely to give a pass to–I don’t like the visual aesthetic of the film. Batman v Superman I would like to be hopeful about, but I’ve been burned by the Snyder DC movies too often already. That Batman fight in the new trailer was pretty good, though.
